Amsterdam, 10 February 2025 – The historic building De Korenbeurs, located at Grote Markt 17 in Goes, has a new owner. The national monument, with a rich history as a residence, lodge and hotel, has been sold after centuries of use as a hotel and retail property.
Originally built before 1622 and owned by the regent of Goes, Cornelis Keetlaer, in 1729, the Korenbeurs has served various functions over the centuries. In 1835 it was officially named ‘De Korenbeurs’ and became a well-known hotel. The building even played a role in national history: in 1809, King Louis Napoleon stayed in this stately building during his visit to Zeeland.
After years of changing uses and vacant floors, a new future is now in sight for this characteristic building. Vero Moda is currently renting the ground floor, basement and part of the first floor. The approximately 650m² on the first, second and third floors are vacant and will be redeveloped by the new owner. This provides an opportunity to restore the historic property to its full glory.
The transaction was advised commercially by BRIKKS and legally by Simmons & Simmons.
