Private investor acquires Reguliersbreestraat 18-22 in Amsterdam

Back to overview

Amsterdam, 9 April 2025 – Van de Laar C.V. has acquired the retail property at Reguliersbreestraat 18-22 in Amsterdam. This large retail property is located in the heart of the tourist centre, between the popular Rembrandtplein and the Munt. Reguliersbreestraat is a lively, historic shopping street with a mix of shops, restaurants, the Pathé Tuschinski cinema and various entertainment venues.

The site of the historic Galeries Modernes department store was redeveloped around 2001 as part of the urban renewal of Amsterdam’s city centre. The name Galeries Modernes was used again – this time not for a classic department store, but for a modern shopping and entertainment complex. The building is a striking post-modern design by Luxembourg and German architects Rob Krier and Christoph Kohl.

The building is fully let to Albert Heijn To Go, Salsa Shop, SoLow and Wok To Go. The retail and restaurant space is located on the ground floor and has a total lettable area (LFA) of 1,516 sqm. The property is part of the Pathé De Munt cinema complex, the entrance of which is located on Vijzelstraat.

The buyer was commercially advised by BRIKKS and further facilitated by Driessen Advies & Beheer. The seller was advised commercially by KroesePaternotte and legally by Dentons.
