Altera strengthens retail portfolio with Rijkerswoerd shopping centre in Arnhem

Amsterdam, 16 June 2025 – Real estate investor Altera has further expanded its retail portfolio on behalf of the Altera Retail Fund with the purchase of the Rijkerswoerd neighbourhood shopping centre in Arnhem.

The shopping centre has a surface area of approximately 6,200 m² and comprises 20 units. Parking is available on municipal land around the shopping centre. These free parking spaces are located at ground level and are accessible to the public.

In addition to the Jumbo and Aldi supermarkets, Rijkerswoerd offers a variety of shops and services for everyday needs, including a bakery, butcher, chemist, liquor store, and food and beverage stores, as well as several healthcare providers.

Originally built in 1997, the complex underwent a revitalisation in 2023. This included installing new shop fronts, adding more greenery, and fitting solar panels on the roof — an investment in appearance and sustainability.

Jaap van der Bijl, CEO of Altera, said, “The purchase of the Rijkerswoerd shopping centre fits in perfectly with our strategy of investing in sustainable, future-proof centres that play an important role in meeting the neighbourhood’s daily needs. Convenience retail delivers stable returns, is less sensitive to e-commerce, and strengthens social cohesion in the neighbourhood”.

The seller was commercially advised by BRIKKS in this transaction. Altera was legally advised by Dentons on this purchase.
